Biography

Cordelia R. Carter was born October 18, 1828, daughter of John Carter and Martha Wilson. She married Robert Allen (1825-1864), and they had four known children. When Robert died at age 38, their children ranged in age from fifteen to one years. Cordelia married Gideon Sumners (1818-1884), and they had a daughter born in 1862. Cordelia, twice widowed, died on July 24,1910 and was buried near her two husbands at Sumner Cemetery, Wheatland, Hickory County, Missouri.
