Amelia was baptized 1 January 1854 at Preston Capes, Northamptonshire. She was the daughter of William and Selina Brown. [1] [2]

The family emigrated to Nelson, New Zealand in 1856 aboard the Emma Colvin. [3]

She married Henry Wellesley McCullough Cowley in 1878. Their children were:

  1. Esther Mary
  2. Frances Amelia (McMillan)
  3. Sarah McCullough (Hickey)
  4. Emily
  5. Elizabeth
  6. William Henry[4]

Amelia died on 15 October 1943 in Witherlea, Marlborough, New Zealand, aged 89. She was buried in Ōmaka Cemetery, Blenheim, Marlborough District, Marlborough, New Zealand.
