Nathan Brown's birth date is given variously as June 2, 1738 [1] and June 20, 1738 . Probably the former is correct [2]. Born in Stonington, Connecticut, his parents were Daniel Brown and Mary Breed[3]. Nathan was their seventh child.
Nathan married Lydia (Dewey) Brown on 17 Sep 1761 in Stonington. Nathan and Lydia lived on the property that was part of the original purchase by the three Brown brothers. He spent his entire life, 93 years, on that farm and it was here that he and Lydia raised their 10 children [4].
Nathan died on November 3, 1831 [5], and is buried in the Union Cemetery in North Stonington [6].
