Arvella Brawley was born November 2, 1938 in Boyd, Wise, Texas. She is the daughter of Earnest Brawley and Hazel Norton. ^[1] Arvella was not given a middle name. ^[2]

The 1940 census record lists Arvella in the household of her parents along with her two brothers residing in Boyd, Wise, Texas. ^[3]

On April 8, 1957 she married James Garrett in Wichita County, Texas. ^[4]
