Biography

Arthur was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1878. His parents were George Metcalfe Atkinson and Hannah Kirkwood Bower. He was a clothier by trade and married Ellen Wilkinson in 1901, unfortunately she died (date unknown) he then married Hilda Mary Wood in 1911, tragically she died that same year. His third and final marriage was to Elsie Meakin in 1915. They had a daughter Edna May in 1917 however she died in infancy. Their son Aubert Metcalfe Atkinson was born in 1920. Arthur passed away in Leeds in 1926.
