Cornwall Records Office, ordering from

Those of you who have been at this longer can help with this...

I found a couple of wills in a list from the CRO, and the ordering page isn’t clear to me. Would it be best if I called them directly or download the form.

Hiring a researcher is just a little out of my pay range, £25 per hour. Cheaper if I order. Just need some guidance. Thanks!

I just ordered some last week. I printed off the order form, filled it in, scanned it and then sent the scanned copy attached as an email to them.

I did find them rather expensive compared to the Essex Record office..it worked out £8 per page so about £100 for 5 wills. However they were very quick and the digital copies were good quality.

That's assuming you want a digital copy rather than paper copies..There are two different forms: paper copies use this form: https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/media/33006522/302-photocopy-forms-may2018.pdf and digital copies use https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/media/33006526/307-digital-copy-form-may-2018.pdf

I think they both have the copyright sections which needs to be completed, so I don't think they would do it over the phone.
