Newt Barron-4281 ... my brickwall ancestor

Question

I am looking for the parents of my grandfather John Barron (also could be spelled Baron).  To my knowledge my grandfather was born in Rhode Island, US (Providence I think)  He immigrated to Montreal, Quebec as a young man (before 1902). He was married to Sophronie Cloutier in 1902. He had two brothers Louis and Joseph.  His father's name was probably Joseph.  John's mother died giving birth to him and his father later remarried.  That is pretty much all of the information I have and no paperwork to back any of it up.  I only know this much because my grandfather told me.  Is there anyone who can help with this "brick wall"?

Thank you but I have the 1931 Census and this is my grandfather along with my grandmother, uncle and father.  However, my grandparents were both illiterate and the census taker entered him as Italian because he could speak the language as well as English, French & Polish.  My DNA has no trace of Italian ancestry.  This also does not answer my question as to who his parents were.  He was born in the US and I believe his father's name to be Joseph and his step-mother's name may have been Marie-Anne Boregine but I have been unable to find any documentation of this.

Another that seems worth looking at is Family Search ID L7M3-1GF. His details are pretty slim, but the family hints at a possible connection.
