It looks like there's some uncertainty around the origin and marriages of William Williams—he's PGM 1637, so we can hope for more clarity when Great Migration Series 3 reaches him, but that's some years away.
In the meantime, via research into the family of William Flint we've uncovered that William Williams' wife or widow Alice, who migrated with him, is most likely the same Alice Williams who was whipped for fornication with William Flint in Salem in 1644. William Flint's widow was also named Alice, leading some authors to conclude he married Alice Williams, but he didn't: she was living with her son in Watertown in 1655, probably still a widow. See our discussion on this G2G post for the details and sources.
William Williams' wife Alice has a profile as Alice Bryant; there's a comment indicating that the source for her LNAB/parentage is a "believed to be" in Virkus' Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy. That doesn't seem definitive. A 1987 family genealogy doesn't have much on Alice but says her surname is unknown. The sources listed for William Williams in Great Migration Directory p. 376 are all in New England and don't shed any light on her or her origin.
However, I didn't research her exhaustively, so I don't want to tear out the unsourced info without first checking here to see if anyone has anything better.
I'd like to merge Alice Williams-10652 into Alice Bryant-5455, but I think the WikiTree tech preference is to do LNAB changes first before merges, so I wanted to see what ye good PGM folks think - should one of them be changed to LNAB Unknown before we merge?
Since Alice Bryant-5455 is already attached as William Williams' spouse and he's PPP, it might be easier to change her LNAB and merge Alice Williams-10652 into her, but other than that I'm not sure it matters which one or which direction.
Project team, could you advise and perhaps assist? Many thanks!
