How do I find the "featured connections" to me and not just my wife?

How do I find my own "featured connections"?

Featured connections follow the shortest path.

Usually there are certain "bottlenecks" these paths go through, because that's where your local branch is connected to the main tree.

It's probably the case that your wife's family is connected more/closer to the main tree than your family.

If you want to see your connection without going through your wife, you can exclude her from the path (click the cross).

What "cross" do I select?

Click on Connection at the bottom of a profile page. You'll get a page of green and yellow rectangles with names of people in the connection links.  If your spouse is the last name before yours, click on the bold-face X in upper right-hand corner of her little rectangle.

It's anoying but recent changes mean that ,if your spouse is still living and therefore 'private', there is now no cross.  You can't exclude them. The  solution I've found is to move one or more steps back in the chain and exclude that person.. Sometimes you have to repeat the action

eg. I'm 25 degrees from.Nigella Lawson through my husband and then his father.

I click the cross to exclude his father and find that I'm 26 degrees through his mother.

Clicking on the cross by his mother and I'm 28 degrees through my own mother.
