I have released a new version of WikiTree Sourcer (version 1.12.1). Several features/improvements have been added since my last update on G2G. The full release notes are here but here are the highlights of the releases since then:
Version 1.12.1 (released 9 Nov 2023)
- When searching WikiTree for a person from another record/profile it often failed because the birth or death locations did not match exactly. There is now an option to omit these locations or only use the country name. It defaults to only using the country.
- Merge/Edit improvements. When merging source type citations (say from Family Search) it used to put them at the end of the == Biography == section. Now it correctly puts them at the end of the == Sources == section. Also, new options were added to generate birth marriages and death lines (like in Add Person).
- On Ancestry make it easier to create household tables for larger households. Ancestry has rate limiting which returns errors if too many records are requested in a short time. Sourcer now slows down its requests in this case. There are also buttons to skip the fetches or, if some records could not be fetched, to continue to create the table/citation, just minus the extra column data that could not be fetched..
Version 1.12.0 (released 30 Oct 2023)
- Added support for several new sites:
- Wikipedia
- Google Books
- HathiTrust
- Internet Archive (archive.org)
- JSTOR
Version 1.11.0 (released 19 Oct 2023)
Version 1.10.3 (released 11 Oct 2023)
- Try to avoid the situation where users sometimes switch to another tab while the citation is still building and thus accidentally paste in the previous citation that was created. To avoid this I implemented a couple of changes.
- First, at the start of building a new citation it clears the old one from the clipboard.
- Second, there is a more obvious busy indicator in the Sourcer popup when it is busy doing something
