Is Find A Grave now unavailable to Wikitree X?

Seems like there has been an updated to Find A Grave which prevents Wikitree X from working.

I used to be able to refresh a few times and get Wikitree X to work, now it seems that even that won't work.

It's been like that for at least the last month. I used to be able to get it to work by either refreshing the source page three times or opening it on its own. Then it quit working altogether.

I'm not sure what WikiTree X supported on FindAGrave sites. Was it creating a WikiTree profile from it?

If so I can extend WikiTree Sourcer to do this - the same way it currently does for Ancestry, FamilySearch and FMP profiles.

Is this something that would be useful?

WikiTree X is no longer being maintained.

Actually this is somewhat supported already. You can go to a Find A Grave memorial page and use Sourcer to build a citation.

Then you can add a person and when the Add Person (Edit Family of ...) page comes up you can use the Sourcer menu to do "Set Fields from Citation Data...". This will fill out the fields and optionally add the citation.
Yes Rob. It was just like any other website. You would say add father/mother/sibling/child or new unconnected person and it would extract all the info and insert appropriate text for the bio and source fields.

Alternatively it would let you update an existing profile with the new source as well.
Give the Sourcer equivalent a try. It does much of the same thing for adding a new profile - just in a slightly different way.
I've been using Sourcer for the past week. The only problem is that it doesn't copy over the death place. Works great otherwise, except for updating an existing profile. I really miss that feature.
I do not see the option to add a profile using Sourcer.

Wikitree was a quick and easy way to add all the siblings, children and spouses to a family without having to redo all the typing opening up possible typos.

It encouraged adding full family groups rather than the one person you were actually working on.
@Rob,

I tried your steps on an Ancestry female profile.

Here are the results I got:

1. It put the first name in the the "First Name at Birth" field correctly.

2. The middle initial was placed in the Middle Name field, but the period was deleted after the initial. I don't want it deleting the period after the initial.  It also placed in the Middle Name field the LNAB followed by the first surname of the first marriage. It took the last surname of the second marriage and placed it in the Last Name at Birth field (which is wrong).

3. For birth month and death month, it is entering the three letter abbreviations in all uppercase instead of mixed case. Not sure how WikiTree handles that.  I always enter it as mixed cased.

4. In the notes section, it doesn't have the period after the middle initial (which I would want) and it added dates for the parents, which I don't want.

5. In the sources section, it added the Ancestry Tree profile template.
Thanks Tommy,

Do you have a link to a Find A Grave page like that (with the initial and married name)? I don't think I have tested it with initials.

To be honest I have't tried doing the "Set fields from..." with a Find A Grave citation before. I should be able to improve it (especially the death place if given). The middle name is a challenge as Find A Grave doesn't call that out specifically.

Here is the link to the female profile on Ancestry:

I am looking for one on Find a Grave.

I am working on adding the updating of an existing profile. Do you mostly use that for updating data fields or would you like it to add a Find A Grave source citation to the bio as well. I'm figuring out how best to do that via the MergeEdit page.
Both.
Version 1.5.0 of Sourcer has a way to update an existing profile. When you are on a WikiTree profile there is now a "Merge/Edit from external data..." menu item. This new version was just published so may not show up in the store (or auto-update) for a couple of days.
