Hi WikiTreers! 

The thirty-third week of the WikiTree Challenge is here. It features Lisa Lisson, of Are You My Cousin? Our challenge is to make her ancestry on WikiTree more accurate and complete than it is anywhere else. 

It may be too late to formally register for an August challenge team, but we need every WikiTreer's help to make this a success, so please join in. You can also register now for a September team.

This week will officially end at 8pm (EDT) on Wednesday, August 25th.

After discussing with several people, I have changed John B Talbot's father to a different Langley Talbot. So, David Gwin Talbot is no longer recorded as an ancestor of Lisa's, since he fathered a different Langley Talbot who never married or had children, it appears. (Additionally, these 2 families lived their whole lives in different counties - Campbell and Halifax, and there were no boundary changes at the relevant time periods).  If bounty points are made at this late stage, I'd like to share them with Anne Guglik and Deb Ellingson Johnston, who also noticed inconsistencies in that line earlier this week.  Here is a space page about the conflation.

UNKNOWN-92707 should be Leroy Wayne Payne, rather than James Payne Unknown.  Found in daughter's marriage record.

His wife is Rachel Hill (already on Lisson tree, but not Wikitree, added Hill-45930).  Her father, new, is Joseph Hill (their marriage record) and his marriage record showed wife is now Weldon-2189.  Two new ancestors.

Payne-16665 (great uncle) died of wounds received in the Battle of Gettysburg (Confederate).

Payne-9194 was wounded at Drewry's Bluff on May 16, 1864, and died of his wounds at the hospital in Richmond on July 9, 1864. 

Payne-8422 was an ambulance driver for the Virginia Infantry. He was taken prisoner at Bermuda 100 in August 1864 and exchanged in March 1865.  The only one of the three brothers to survive the Civil War.

Brickwall Leroy Payne parents found in wills (unconnected but already on Wikitree):  Payne-7618 and Shelton-348.  Thomas Payne was a patriot during the Revolution (but not a soldier).

Claiming five/six bounties from above (1) Payne-7618 and (2) Shelton-348 and now parents of Nancy (Jennings) Collie (Jennings-734) as (3) Robert (Jennings-11690) and (4) Susanna (Unknown-570404).  Half for only finding the first name on Nancy's marriage record.  Also parents and grandparents for Panthea Overby: (5) Cynthia Worsham-813 and (6) Peter Overby.

Just looked at Lucy Jane (already on Lisa's tree), she is Elijah's only wife and their marriage record proves her maiden name.

She is on 1850 census with mother.  Parents marriage record on their pages.  Panthea and Cynthia are both unique names for the period.  I'd prefer a birth or death record, but none available.

I dived in to edit the biographies of a couple of profiles before bedtime, and I believe I stumbled upon a mistake on this branch in Lisa's tree. As a result, I have disconnected Lucinda Snow as the mother of William Richard Wilmoth, substituting Martha Fanny Potter in her place. Lucinda was the first wife, married in 1820. She appears to have died, and Lot Wilmoth married Fanny Potter as his second wife; their marriage bond is dated December 1822. Lisa's ancestor William Richard was born in 1824, so he cannot have been Lucinda's child.

So far I have only looked at sources that were already linked in the profiles, but it seems that I am claiming a bounty.

Fanny has no parents yet.

I've raised merges for Stella's father John Martin Holyfield and his parents Valentine Holyfield and Nancy O'Neal (maiden name currently shown as Unknown). This will take the Holyfield line back several generations. Sadly the profiles have no sources at all, and am personally struggling to find anything relevant. The profiles do match those in Lisa's tree, so am hoping that they can be agreed, and other WikiTreers may find some sources to add.

I am struggling with Lucia Day's parents Celia Carlton and Andrew John Day  I cannot find any evidence that they were married . I can find  a Celia but not Andrew and I can find a John Nicholas Day who may have married Celia Carlton They appear to be the parents of Wyatt,Wiley etc

Thank you, Mindy for sorting out those merges, I really wasn't happy they were correct, but hadn't realised that all the children had been attached to the wrong father. So presumably this means that Lisa's tree is incorrect (at least for one generation) working back from Valentine Holyfield. I'd left a research note on his profile regarding possible parents but again I have no sources as confirmation.

2 of stella's sisters married 2 brothers of surname Fowler. A 3rd cousin of lisa's is descended from one of them and is on Wikitree. Looks like hasnt been active in 6 yrs though.
