Miemie was Lydia's mother; Joan and Tippie were Lydia's sisters.
Riebeck van Niekerk was Lydia's brother. Brilliant man - died in a motor car accident; no children. This whole family died without issue.
Lydia was a professor at Stellenbosch University in Modern Languages. The medical society bought her brain after death but it was badly damaged by a goiter?.
Huis Lydia at the University is named after her.
Coetzenberg is part of the Coetzee farm and the sports fields were donated by the family.
