Biography

Gaspare was born in the 1700s, probably before 1768 [1] to Tommaso Zito and Anna Montalbano [2]. His first wife was Maria Trapani [3], and they had at least one child. Widowed, he married again in 1815, to the widow Antonina Armato [4]. It is possible that he had another wife, Maria Di Rosa. See Research Notes.

Research Notes

There are 3 women who are named as wife of Gaspare Zito, but there is confusion. Two of the women are named as the mother of what is probably the same son, Tommaso (Antonia Bilello is Gaspare's wife in Tommaso's first marriage record, and Maria Di Rosa in his 2nd marriage record.) Gaspare's 3rd wife, Antonina Armato, is a certainty as we have a marriage record for them. All 3 are being listed as wives until we get clarity on who is who. The most likely scenario is that Maria Di Rosa and Maria Trapani are the same woman.
