John Christ Zang was a White male born on 7 April 1879[1] in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania[2] to Christopher Zang and Anna Mary Huss.[3][4] By 1880, he lived with his parents and his older siblings Mary, Susan, and Phillip Alexander on Spring Hill, Allegheny City, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.[5]
Marriages and Family
On 14 June 1904, John married Antonetta Wilhelmena Schultheis[6] with the consent of Antonetta's mother Margaret Weinzierl. At the time of his marriage, he lived on Island Avenue, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania and worked as a butcher.[2] He fathered six children with Antonetta:
By 1910, he lived with his wife Antonetta and his children Margaret, John, and Antonetta and rented the property 50 Woessner Avenue, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. This property belonged to Fredrick Heller, who also lived at the property with his wife Josephine and his children Minnie P, Fredrick D, William J, Ernest M, Joseph G, Alfred, and Celstina C. John was listed as a laborer at a beef house, being able to read and write, and whose native tongue was listed as English.[6]
John's wife Antonetta died on 12 November 1918, after which he became a widower. By 1920, he lived along with his mother and his children Margaret, John Jr., Edward, Clara, and Florence at 1919 Bader Street, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, a property which he owned under a mortgage. He worked as a chauffer for a truck company.[3]
John married widow Frances M. Klages on 7 July 1921 in Erie County, Pennsylvania. At the time of his second marriage, he lived in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania and worked as a chauffer.[4]
Later Life and Death
John died in 1955 and was buried at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery in Section G, Lot 346, Space 6.[1]
