Dorma was well known as an expert tailor and seamstress. She tailored men's suits and created custom dresses in Emporia and Delano. She also worked as a waitress at Fed's Derby and McAdoo's in Emporia. There she designed and made the aprons and hats for all the waitresses. As a young military wife and mother of 4, she moved to Riverside, California in 1948, then left for West Germany on 3 October 1949 aboard the Queen Mary from New York harbor. She had two more children in Germany and returned stateside (Destin. Florida) in January 1953. In March she moved to Emporia where she lived for 10 years. After moving to Delano in 1963, she worked in the vineyards and became friends with migrant leaders Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez. Later she was manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Delano, California. Dorma loved to create art and remodel homes. Under the guidance of a Navajo craftswoman, she mastered semi precious stones and created tables with rock inlays. In 1981 she returned to King City. After Tommie's death, she moved to Cameron where she lived the rest of her life. Dorma continued to sew and crochet until her 80s. She had 12 children. Dorma was affectionately called Granny Goose by her 25 grandchildren.

Dorma Lea Hoskins, 87, Cameron, passed away on February 20, 2011.
Dorma was born on February 20, 1924 in King City, Mo., to Roy and Anna Belle (Miller) Yount.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommie D. Hoskins; four children, John, Stephen, Thomas, and Elizabeth; brother, Jimmy Yount.
Survivors include three sons: Jerry (Kathy) Hoskins, Cameron; Phillip Hoskins, Emporia, Kan.; Terry (Lorraine) Hoskins, Lovingston, Virginia.; five daughters: Rosemary Tuuri, Livermore, Calif.; Anneliese Powers, Fresno, Calif.; Jeanette (Rick) Wolfe, Skidmore, Mo.; Theresa (Rod) Wostenberg, San Antonio, Texas; Robin (John) Moniz, Bakersfield, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, at the King City Cemetery, King City, Mo.
Memorial Fund: Comfort Care Hospice, Cameron, Mo. Mrs. Hoskins has been cremated under the direction of Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.
