Biography

Wilford Hall Wood was born on June 25, 1885, in Rural Hill, Wilson County, Tennessee. He was the son of Rueben Wood and Lydia Tennison. He married Nellie Sadler on November 7, 1904, in Nashville, Tennessee. They had ten children during their marriage. He died on October 30, 1937, in Nashville, at the age of 52, and was buried there.

Funeral services for Wilford Hall Wood, 52, well-known electrician of near White's Creek, and brother of Miss Ruth Wood of The Banner, who died Saturday afternoon at a local hospital following a three-day illness, were conducted at 11 o'clock this morning at the chapel of the Roesch-Charlton Company. The Rev. N. Burch Tucker officiated, and burial was in Spring HIll Cemetery.

Born in Wilson County, Mr. Wood had resided most of his life in Davidson County. He was educated in the public schools. Previous to establishing his own electrical business, he had been employed as chief electrician by a mining company at Mt. Pleasant, and had also worked in Memphis for several years. He was regarded as an expert in his line.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Sadler Wood; children, Jearol, Elmo, Arinthia, Virginia, Julia, Wilford Wood, Jr., Mrs. S. E. Tavel and Mrs. Dorris Johnson; sisters, Mrs. Nora Clark and Miss Ruth Wood; brothers, Horace, Luther, and Walter Wood.

Pallbearers were W. B. Doss, J. C. Campbell, H. G. Bradley, Sid Warren, T. P. Loftis, R. E. Garrett, Martin Lancaster and John L. Gilliam.
