Hello Sandra,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in. The Project operates in a team structure with these participant PIP Teams -- The Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and three Biography Teams. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team. You are currently identified as a member of the following Teams:

  • Biography Team, working on profiles from your watchlist and other profiles that interest you. The other two Biography Teams work on Abandoned and Popular profiles from the provided lists.
  • Category Team. Are you working on a particular category?

Are you happy with the Teams you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Team, please let us know.

If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. We use the WikiTree Discord server #profile-improvement channel for our project. Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Kay Knight, Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

Thanks, I'll keep working on the Biography Team. I often work on early biographies for the Jacka Name Study in Cornwall and Jacka-related profiles.

I could perhaps also work on "Cornwall, Needs Gedcom Clean Up" as time permits if that helps. Cheers Sandra

Thanks for responding, Sandra. Your Jacka surname work and Cornwall GEDCom cleanup work sound good. Debi

Hi Sandra,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. If you're not on Discord yet, here's some information - Help:Discord. If you are already on the WikiTree Discord server, let us know, and we can send you an invite link to the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located. It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

I'm still interested in being an active member of the Australia project. I'm not sure which team I fit into. My interest generally connects with people coming from Cornwall to Australia although I do spend a lot of time going down rabbit holes.

Thx Sabdra

Thank you for responding to the check-in message, and for your ongoing contributions to WikiTree and the Australia Project, they are much appreciated! You are currently in the Victoria and Born in the Colony teams. If you would like to change to anything different, just let me know, anytime.

Regards, Margaret

Hi Sandra,

I wrote to you recently as part of the England Project's annual check-in with our project members. I haven't heard back from you. I hope you are well.

If you could please drop me a quick note to confirm whether you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member, that would be very helpful.

If we don't hear from you within the next 2 weeks, we will assume you are no longer active in the England Project and remove you from our list of project members. You would be most welcome to re-apply to join the project at a later time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Many thanks!

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

I've only just joined the England Project so I'm just learning my way around at the moment. So at the moment I am happy with my choices and continue to focus on my Jacka Name Study and other English profiles attached to my personal family tree. So no real feedback to provide at present. Dear Sandra,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team who guide new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team. Please let us know which team(s) you would like to participate in.

We would also like to invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (When you request to join our GoogleGroup, please be sure to include your Wiki ID). You will find more information on the GoogleGroup.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project and WikiTree. The Project’s mission is to:

Make profiles beautiful! We clean up messy biography sections and sources, and try to set standards for attractive, useful, and well-written biographies, starting with those we manage.

We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Robin Shaules Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

I'm a bit confused. I'm happy to participate in a general way, time permitting. I'm already a member of Discord, but when I hit the google group link it says content is not currently available.

The Maintenance Category Team is the one that I find most interesting or perhaps the (PIP) Biography Team with a focus on the Profiles I already manage or that I am trying to disambiguate from other profiles with the same name born in the same place, such as Thomas Dutton (abt.1823-) (see his research notes for further detail) or perhaps those related to the Jacka Name Study.

I'm not sure if this makes sense or is helpful or is what you are after so let me know

Cheers Sandra

Hello Sandra,

I'm following up on our previous message.

You mentioned that you would like to work on the Maintenance Category team. That's great. We would like to add you to the Maintenance Category "Needs Profiles Created". You can also work on the Biography Team, Level 1 if you would like -- from your reply it sounds as if you're already doing the work for that team.

You also mentioned that you were having trouble getting onto the GoogleGroup for the Project. We were having some problems with that, but it seems we have got that all worked out now. Here are the new instructions: (When you request to join our GoogleGroup, please be sure to include your Wiki ID). You will find more information on the GoogleGroup. https://groups.google.com/d/forum/wtprofileimprovement

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

We're looking forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Hi Sandra,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out a check-in to see how you are going in the project and especially to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles on WikiTree. We really value your participation.

Please could you get back to me by private message to let me know if you are happy with your current role and team involvement within the project or if you would like to do something additional or different. Currently you are on the Victoria and Born in the Colony teams. If you would like a change, you can check on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to hear any feedback and any suggestions that you have to improve the project. On a practical note, if you are a member of the google group, are you receiving messages ok? Also do you have Australia as one of the tags you are following on the G2G? Don't forget to add it in if you don't have that tag yet.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Will of William Gilbert:

I took over as PM of this profile recently and some of the data was already in there. I haven't sighted the will personally but the reference at https://opc-cornwall.org/Par_new/l_m/pdfs/morvah_wills.pdf looks to be of the right date and the location is correct. Have added this reference to the profile.

Thank you for pointing this duplication out. You are quite right. I have had some difficulty in sorting out JACKA in any case.

I have removed the incorrect information and will look at Ann Moor afresh. With over 13,600 individuals, some errors do creep in.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz, Sandra!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

I suggest for your tags and contributions: England Project leaders- Susie MacLeod and Gillian Thomas; and Scottish Clans Project leaders-- Maria Maxwell and Doug Straiton

Hi Sandra, your story about William Carbis looks really great! I've added a couple of categories at the top for the ship he came on and one of his places of residence, and also the convicts template (the wording for it is at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:Convicts) to put the Convicts block at the top of his biography and add the Convicts after the third fleet category.
