Carl was born in Ware, Massachusetts on March 18, 1891[1]. Carl and Helen (Gilman) were married in Melrose, Massachusetts, on June 28, 1917. They lived all their married lives in Ware, Massachusetts, where Carl Emmons Williams was a "storekeeper" -- proprietor of the J. B Sibley & Son hardware store; he was also a Director of the Ware Co-Operative Bank. They had two children, Carl Haskell Williams, and Edward Gilman Williams. Carl was active in his community and church, and was respected as a genlteman, and well thought of by others. He was an active Mason in Eden Lodge, and above all... a devoted fly fisherman.
He delighted in taking his youngest grandson, Thomas Clarke Williams, fishing at every opportunity, for trout, perch, bass, walleye, and pickerel... but especially trout. Carl passed his Orvis bamboo fly rods to Thomas in the summer of 1968, along with his life-long appreciation for fly fishing, and his great appreciation and respect for the outdoors.
He passed away without warning of a heart attack in Wilbraham, Massachussetts, on December 9, 1969.
