Biography

Joseph Williams was born on 19 Jun 1856 in Godalming. He was the son of Joseph Williams and Eleanor (Smith) Williams.

Joseph became a journalist.

Joseph died on 15 Jan 1930, at County Hospital, Guildford. His home address was given as Freehold Villa, Marshall Road, Godalming, and his occupation as retired journalist. He was buried on the 20th in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the consecrated section.

Memorial Inscription
  JOSEPH WILLIAMS BORN JUNE 19TH 1857 DIED JAN 15TH 1930
Although the inscription clearly says 1857 and not 1856, his age in the burial record would be correct if he was born 19 June 1856, and this is consistent with the birth registration, and the christening record.
