Biography

Benjamin Guy Williams was born in 1896 in Fancy Farm, Graves County, Kentucky. He was the son of Harve Williams and Minnie Gent. He was married to Floy Shepherd in 1917. He served in WWI as a private in Company "C", 127th Infantry, and fought in France. In 1920 he was again a farmer in Graves County, Kentucky. By 1930 he was living in Paducah, Kentucky, with his parents and two young sons, and was employed as a loan office manager. He is married, but no wife is listed. The minimum profile of a Floy Williams on the 1930 Census for the Western State Hospital, a mental institution, fits her. There is a McCracken County birth record in 1931 for Martha G. Williams, mother Floy Shepherd, given on the Kentucky Vital Records Index. Guy and Floy were both living in Mc Cracken County in 1935 from information given for each on the 1940 Census. However, on the 1940 Census, she is living in Mayfield, Kentucky, with their daughter Martha, and is employed. Guy is living with their two sons in Ferndale, Michigan, with his brother Coy. Both Guy and Floy are enumerated as married, but have no spouse in either household. He passed away in 1965 in Bisbee, Arizona.
