DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
Yes, I descend from Hannah Shelby and Joseph Curtis. Their daughter Laura Curtis and her husband Francis DeSart are my 4th great grandparents. I have no solid evidence but I think David’s parents are David Sr and Elizabeth Balla. Does that seem correct? Denny
I didn’t have a daughter for Hannah in my records so this is a pleasant surprise. I only had sons, Joseph, David, Harvey, Benjamin, and Isaac.
I don't think that our David is descended from David Sr. I am not 100% certain, but David Sr.'s will does not mention David so I take that as David is not David Sr.'s son, however they is not certain at all. From a variety of sources, none that have solid evidence, I am thinking he was the son of Evan, who was the son of Rees. I will dig up what little references I have that would lead one to believe this and send over to you.
Agreed, merged them today. Curious to how you are related to David Shelby and Mary Williams. I assume through Hannah Shelby? I am a descendant of Isaac, her brother and have been tracking all the descendants of David for a number of years (with a long ways to go). Am also curious if you have any insight or evidence of who David is descended from.
There are a number of assumptions or theories but as far as I can ascertain, there is nothing certain. I do have DNA relations to descendants of David--numerous ones--and of Enoch Williams a generation prior for his wife for instance, but do not have DNA relations to descendants prior to David on his side.
