Biography

James Williams was born in Gorton, Lancashire, England.

James was born on March 6, 1906, at 36 Byrom Street, West Gorton, Lancashire. His birth was registered in Chorlton. ^[1]

He was the son of William Williams and Frances Jones. He was enumerated in the 1911 census^[2] as a five year old residing at 549 Fifth St., Trafford Park, Manchester, with his parents and three siblings.

James married Elsie Bull in 1925.^[3] The ceremony was performed on June 27th in Salford, Lancashire, at St Cyprian.^[4] The Parish Register listed James as a nineteen year old bachelor and "Motor Driver" residing at 35 Harry Street, Salford. His father was named as William Henry Williams "Warehouseman". Elsie was a twenty one year old spinster and "Spinner" residing at 14 Landacer Street, Salford. Her father was named as Alfred Bull (deceased) "Laborer". ^[5] It appears the couple had at least two children. James and Elsie appeared in the 1939 Register^[6] residing at 1029 Tenth Street, Stretford, (a market town in Trafford, Greater Manchester), Lancashire. His occupation "Motor Driver Heavy Work". Two redacted entries at address.

James passed away on November 2, 1962.^[7] His death was registered in Barton, Lancashire. He was buried on November 7th in Greater Manchester.
