Per the comment below, I am detaching Jane (Williams) May as a daughter of this Roger Williams. She belongs to the Virginia Williamses -- not the Rhode Island ones.
There is a serious problem with three of the four children attached to this profile. Roger Williams, son of Daniel and grandson of Providence founder Roger, _had only two children, both of them daughters_: Elizabeth (Williams) Tourtellot, born in 1734, shown above; and Rebecca (Williams) [Thayer] Williams, born in 1735 -- who had two marriages, the first to David Thayer and the second to Peleg Williams.
See the exhaustive tree, showing descendants of Roger & Mary (Barnard) Williams through eleven generations, in Roger Williams of Providence, R.I. (1949); relevant section is pages 135 (right column, bottom) through 139: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89062448378&view=1up&seq=142 .
The other children shown -- Jane (Williams) May and Mathias Ignatius Williams, Sr., shown born in Virginia, and Thomas R.Williams, shown born in Wales (!) -- _are not offspring_ of this Roger Williams, who never lived in Virginia and most certainly did not have a son born in Wales. They should be detached from this profile, and their actual parentage should be found.
Thanks for your note. I was comparing a connection path between Geni and WikiTree and came to this spot on the tree. I see Matthias is in WT already and there are notes on his page as well that Roger Williams is not the correct parent.
Roger Williams born May 1680: died 1763 is the son of Daniel Williams and Rebecca Rhodes, not Roger Williams. Roger should be removed as his parent. Thanks
