Biography

Ellen was born on 29 January 1888. She was one of fourteen children born to William Williams and Elizabeth Bray.

She grew up with her parents and siblings in Foxton, in the house her parents built in Union Street. Her father died in 1902.

Ellen married Frederick William Whibley on 12 January 1905. She was just shy of her 17th birthday.

They went on to have at least two children:

1. Harry Frederick Whibley (b. 16 Nov 1909, d. 1999)
2. Grace Ellen Whibley (b. 27 Nov 1929, d. 12 Dec 2014)

In the 1922 NZ Electoral Rolls she and her husband Frederick were recorded living in Vogel Street, Shannon in the Manawatu. He was employed as a Labourer.

In the 1954 NZ Electoral Rolls Ellen was recorded living at Trigg Road, Waihi with her husband and their son Harry.

Her husband passed away in 1956.

In the 1963 NZ Electoral Rolls Ellen was still recorded living at Trigg Road, Waihi.

She passed away on 12 January 1970 at the age of 80 and was cremated at Pyes Pa Cemetery, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand^[1].
