He died from battle wounds suffered while part of a military campaign organized to confront and quell Iroquois alliance with British forces subsequent to the Wyoming Massacre, which took place the previous year.
His grave is in Battle of Wyoming Burial Ground, Wyoming, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
