Biography

Sarah Elizabeth Williams was born on 15 Mar 1836 in Silver Springs, Wilson County, Tennessee, United States, daughter of William Gray Williams (1816–1902) and Mary Polly Mornings (1812–1852). Sarah died on 25 Apr 1925 in Alma, Marion, Illinois, aged 89.

Sarah was a Native of Wilson County, Tennessee but moved to Illinois in the early 1850s. On 6 May 1867 she became a Primitive Baptist Church member and a member for 58 years of Liberty Church.^[1]

Sarah married Ransom Green Williams (born in 1833 in Wilson; son of Roger Alexander Williams Sr. and Priscilla H. (King) Williams) on 24 Dec 1853 (obit shows 1851) in Marion, Illinois. Their children were: (obit shows 13 children)^[2]

(Microfilm Roll #2) Jan. 8, 1920: Brought here for burial was Othnial WILLIAMS, who was born in Silver Springs, Tenn. on June 22, 1838, and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nellie ROSS of Tuscola. He removed with his parents to Illinois in 1845 where spent remainder of his life except for 3 years in the Civil War. In 1864 he married Margaret BENSON at Raleigh, and they had 4 children: T.V. WILLIAMS, Mt. Pleasant, Texas; Clara STEIN, of Altamont; Paschel WILLIAMS, San Francisco; Ollie HARVEY, of Kinmundy. His wife died at Mt. Vernon in 1880. He married second to Anna TACKWELL, and they had 4 children: Leona HAWORTH of Salem; Nellie ROSS; Mollie HUGHES of Desota; Opal PARKER of Chebause. Also surviving are 2 brothers: T.W. WILLIAMS of Salem, and F. O. WILLIAMS of Broughton; 3 sisters: Elizabeth WILLIAMS and Mary CARMEAN of Kinmundy, and Josie RICHIE of Nelson, Missouri. Services were held from the home of Clyde B.
