Biography

Sergeant Elisha Williams served with 8th Regiment, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.

Elisha Williams is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A126054.

Elisha Williams, born 14 Dec 1744, was the of first child of Elisha Williams and Eunice Williams of Old Mystic, near Stonington, Connecticut. [1]

He married Lucy Denison on December 22, 1767 (the daughter of George and Jane (Smith) Denison of Stonington). They had ten children born between the years 1768 and 1788, their eighth of whom died in childhood:

Ebenezer Williams, b. 30 Oct 1781; d. 11 Jun 1786

Some time during the 1790's Elisha and his family left Connecticut and moved to Albany County, New York, near Knox.

Military Record

Elisha was a sergeant in the Revolutionary War having served in Captain William Stanton's (Stonington) Company, 8th Regiment of militia under the command of Colonel Oliver Smith, his wife's uncle.[2]

He passed away 26 Oct 1825, at Knox, New York, at the age of 80. High Point Cemetery, Altamont, Albany County, New York, United States[3]
