Ann/Anne Williams/Willis was born about 1720. (see notes)
Marriage
m. 24 Apr 1737[1] William Cobb at Taunton,Bristol,Massachusetts
Tauntion marriage record:
William and Annie Willis [ ? Williams], both of T.., Apr. 24, 1737* [Anne Willis [sic, Williams (Bristol Co. Deeds)], both of T., C.R.1.[2]
The above maiden name "Willis" appears to be a mis-transcription of a record where Anne's maiden name was partially worn out, as noted by Almon D. Hodges, Jr. in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register.[3] He found proof her maiden name was "Williams". In the Bristol County, Mass., Deeds, he cited a 13-Apr-1756 transaction between William Cobb of Norton, Ann his wife and Richard Williams for £19:19:00. The deed infers Ann Cobb was a sister of the deceased Ebenezer Williams who was the youngest son of the Richard Williams mentioned in the will of Ebenezer Williams (1685-bef.1728). Ebenezer the younger was a minor when his uncle Ebenezer's will was written and had died by the time of this deed. At the time of this deed the land was inhabited by her inferred brother Richard Williams, son of Ebenezer William's brother Richard Williams Sr. (1689-bef.1727).[4][5]
Anne died 20 Nov 1759 at Norton, Bristol, Massachusetts in her 30th year[15]
Research Note(s)
Disputed Father: A previous version of this profile identified Anna as the daughter of Ebenezer Williams (1685-bef.1728). This match is at odds with his will which makes no mention of any living children.[4] Anna has been removed as his daughter until additional research is provided.
If born in 1729 she would have been age 8 when she was married. She also would have been age 9 when her first child was born.
1759 death record indicates she was in her 30th year. Age must have been older, perhaps 38 or other probable transcription error[15]
Old style date Mar. 21, 1737 = Mar. 21, 1738, or Mar. 21, 1737/8. The new year started on March 25th in 1738. [16]

Anna may have the wrong parents in this profile. It shows her father as Ebenezer Williams. Ebenezer's will mentions his wife Judith and his brother Richard Williams. The will states that Ebenezer's land and dwelling will go to the youngest son of Richard (and all of his descendants) in the event of Judith's passing. This indicates Ebenezer had no living children when he wrote his will on on 8 Sep 1727. The will was probated on 13 Apr 1728.
A matching deed dated 13 Apr 1756 seems to imply that Anna Cobb was the sister of the youngest son of Richard Williams mentioned in Ebenezer's will. According to the deed, that youngest son was deceased by 13 Apr 1756 and Anna Cobb then inherited a share of old Ebenezer William's estate along with her brother, Richard Williams Jr.
