Biography

Alexander Williams Sr is a part of US Black heritage.

Alexander "Alex" Williams, Sr., was born in Salem, New York about 1869. He was the son of Albert Williams and Mary Jane (Gansevoort) Williams.^[1][2]

By the time of the 1875 N.Y. Census and later 1880 U.S. Census , Alexander is living with his widowed mother, listed as Mary Jane Williams, in Saratoga Springs, New York. ^[3][4]

Alexander married first to Jennie Grant on April 9. 1891 in Saratoga Springs, New York. Together, they had a son named Alexander Williams. ^[5][6][7]

Both Alexander and his first wife Jennie Grant were married to others within the next 10 years. Alexander married for a second time to Ida E. Rich on May 11, 1892 in Saratoga Springs. ^[8]

Alexander passed away after the 1910 U.S. Census. ^[9]

Research Notes

Death date and place not located, probably New York. Caution on records, Ancestry trees and records/hints are confusing Alexander Williams with his grandmother Olive's surname of Alexander from her marriage to Henry/Harry Alexander and with their son Philip Alexander.
