His exact birth year is unknown, but can be estimated from census records as sometime from 1817 to 1825.
Some records (mostly those pertaining to his offspring) imply that his full name may have been William Andrew Williams, though he is always referred to simply as Andrew in the records I've found which involve him directly.
He married his wife, Elizabeth Lucas on August 11th, 1841 in Giles County, Virginia.
They are known to have had 7 children, 6 daughters and 1 son, born between ~1843 and 1864.
He can be found living with his wife in Giles County, Virginia for the 1850 and 1860 censuses. It appears that he worked as a farmer for his entire career.
He is mentioned in the will of his father in law, Thomas H Lucas, as the husband of his daughter Elizabeth (2).
His wife is thought to have died sometime around 1865, and later census records describe him as "widowed".
His daughter, my direct ancestor, Eliza Sue Williams, married William P Porterfield on December 10th, 1874 (1).
He can be found living in Giles County, Virginia with his adult children in the 1870, 1880, and 1900 census records.
Some of my cousins of this line have constructed trees that claim (without reference to any record in particular) that Andrew Williams died in 1896, however, given the evidence I suspect he died some time between 1900 and 1910. I have yet to find the corresponding records.
