Sarah, daughter of Sarah Davis and an unknown father, was born on 8 November 1867 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom.[1][2][3][4]
In 1871, Sarah (age 3) was living with her unmarried mother, her 3-month-old sister Elizabeth, and her widowed grandfather James Davis in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.[3] Sarah's mother was listed as the head of household and there is no evidence to be found of Sarah's and Elizabeth's father.[3]

Sarah's mother Sarah married David Williams on 8 January 1873 in St Peter's parish church, in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.[5] David Williams was a widower and a mariner.[5] Sarah's mother Sarah and Sarah's new stepfather David Williams were both listed as living on Brook Street, Liverpool, at the time of their marriage, although it is not clear whether they were cohabiting or were merely neighbors.[5]

The house that Sarah was living in with the Haworths in 1881 was a relatively recently built (newly built in the early 1870s) terraced house on a recently built road in the Workhouse neighborhood of Tranmere, just across the River Mersey from Liverpool (see a detailed map of the neighborhood here).
Sarah (age 16) emigrated from England to the United States in 1884.[6][7][8] Sarah became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1886.[8] She departed from Liverpool, England, with her parents and her younger sister, Elizabeth.[9] They sailed on the Nevada and they arrived in the Port of New York on 13 August 1884.[9] Sarah, her mother, and her sister traveled in the Aft Steerage area of the Nevada, while her father traveled in the Fore Steerage area.[9] Sarah's family traveled with a total of 3 pieces of luggage.[9] Sarah's father was noted as being from Birkenhead, Wales, which was just across the River Mersey from Liverpool.[9]
Sarah married Martin Olsen on 29 September 1886 in Oneida County, Idaho, United States.[10]
