Roger Alexander Williams was born on May 23, 1846 in Lone Grove, Fayette, Illinois, United States, son of Roger Alexander Williams (1808–1867) and Priscilla H. King (1813–1901). Roger died on 1 Mar 1922 in Kinmundy, Marion, Illinois, United States.

Uncle Alex (as he was known) was born in Lone Grove but had been living in Kinmundy for over 50 years (about 1872). In 1873, he joined the Christian church and professed his faith with all his strength.

Roger married Almarinda Tucker on 25 Feb 1867 in Wilson, Tennessee, United States. Roger and Almarinda had 10 children.^[1]
