Ephraim Williams was born 3 July 1791 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut, USA, the first child of Ephraim Williams and Hepzibeth Phelps ^{[1] [2] [3][4]}

Some Birth sources include middle name of Phelps, his mother's maiden name. ^[5][6]

He married 13 Apr 1815 in Stonington, Connecticut, Hannah Eliza Denison, daughter of Amos Denison. They had 13 children during the ensuing timespan through August 1840, all born at Stonington ^[3].
