Biography

Bertha was born about Nov 1886 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States of America. She was the daughter of Francis Hetty Williams. In 1900 she was living with her mother in East Cleveland.^[1][2]

Bertha married Ovil Austin on 28 Jul 1908.^[2] They had several children and continued living in Cleveland for the rest of their lives. Bertha worked for years as a dressmaker.^[3]

Bertha died in Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio on 30 May 1964.^[4][5]

Research Notes

• In 1904, her mother married Jesse Hampton. This is why her marriage record used the surname Hampton and listed Jesse as her father.
