Biography

Rebecca (William) Oriel was born in Cyffic, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Rebecca William was born about 1790 in Cyffic (or Kiffig), Carmarthenshire, Wales and was baptised on 28 July 1790 in Llandybie, Carmarthenshire, Wales.^[1] She is the daughter of William Harry and Rachael.

Rebecca William married Thomas Oriel on 29 October 1812 in Cyffig, Pembrokshire, Wales and together they had seven children.

Her husband Thomas passed away aged 47 in 1836 and was buried in St Elidyr, Crunwear, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

In the 1841 Census, the widow Rebecca (aged 50) was at home in Crunwear (Crunwere Farm), Pembrokeshire, Wales ^[2] with her children:

• Benjamin Oriel aged 25;
• John Oriel aged 20;
• Richard Oriel aged 15;
• Ann Oriel aged 12 was christened Nancy Oriel on 7 February 1829; and
• Charles Oriel aged 9.

In the 1851 Census, Rebecca Oriel (aged 60 and employed as a Miller & Farming) was living in Crunwear, Pembrokeshire, Wales ^[3] with her son John Oriel (aged 36) and her daughter Ann Oriel (aged 21).

In the 1861 Census, Rebecca (aged 71 and described as a Farmer of 36 Acres) was living at Crunwear, Pembrokeshire, Wales ^[4] with her son John Oriel (aged 43 and described as a Carter).

In the 1871 census Rebecca (age 82) was the head of household in Crunwear, Pembrokeshire, Wales.^[5]

Rebecca Oriel passed away about 1879 in Narberth, Pembrokeshire, Wales at the age of 89. ^[6] Rebecca was buried in St. Elidyr Churchyard, Crunwere, Llanteg, Pembrokeshire, Wales. ^[7]
