I was born in November of 1998 in Central Texas region of the USA. I grew up as the youngest of 2 sons by my mother, but the only child of my dad (I’ll leave it at that there is a reason why my brother and I are 14 years apart in age.) I got an interest in genealogy at a young age remembering my dad doing research on both his side and my mom’s side.
I learned so much family history that it stuck with me throughout time. Like the one story about my 3rd great grandpa Joseph Wild shot and killed his older half brother in self defense, the one about finding out that my 2nd great grandpa Charles Baechler had more children in his native home of France just a little over a decade ago, the fact that my great grandpa Wilson Harber was apart of the first graduating class of Texas Tech, or even when my granny Nancy (Harber) Wild and pop-pop James Wild were interviewed on the set of Good Morning America by Joan Lundon in November of 1981. I could go on with the stories, but I don't want this bio to be just of my ancestors.
It wasn’t though until after the death of my pop-pop, James Wild, that I realized how important it was to keep track of my history. I picked up from where my dad left off, which is a lot of work, and I’m polishing it up and adding on more info to it to get a better understanding of my family as a whole.
My best known connections are on my dad’s side, being a direct descendant of John Merrifield, a pioneer of the Dallas area founding Oak Cliff, being a first cousin six times removed relationship of Edward Burleson, who was the 3rd Vice President of the Republic of Texas (I descend from his aunt, Abigail Adair Burleson.), and having my second great grandmother Ella (Stafford) Gage more than likely directly descend from the noble Stafford family of England.
I’m more than willing to contribute what I know to Wikitree, and hopefully find people that share the same ancestors as I do, particularly on my Mom’s side since I know less about her family than I do on my Dad’s. Especially since the thing that has been taking the world by storm is forcing me to stay home.

Her husband Lee Cockrell was the younger brother to my 2nd great grandmother, Pelina (Cockrell) Lacey.
There is a large amount of history on the Profile for their father, John Wesley Cockrell, if you are interested in our shared Cockrell family line.

I'm the Ranger on duty and noticed that you are creating pre-1700 ancestors using "my dads old genealogy database" as your source.
Could you please take a few moments to review the Pre-1700 Quiz and the explanations about the sort of sources WikiTree is looking for, as well as this very handy list of sources which are considered "not quite good enough" before you add any more pre-1700 profiles without adequate sources?
Thank you,
Dave
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
Based on your contributuons the Canada Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

This is a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far?
I see that you uploaded a GEDCOM. Do you have questions about the GEDCOMpare process?
Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Most of us still have some questions after reviewing them.
I'm here to help with issues and questions about how WikiTree works. Click my name to send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page.

PS If you get a "Page Not Found" error when clicking WikiTree email links, you can often find a working version in the public comments on your profile.
Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.
Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.
Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.
Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.
Ludwig :)
