John was born at home in Keyser, Mineral, West Virginia on 25 Oct 1943. ^[1] Following high school, he served 20 years in the US Navy. He married Keyser native Patricia Ann Smith, daughter of Lawrence and Oma Smith, in Imperial Beach, California on 18 Feb 1965. ^[2] He continued work in support of our Navy and special forces in Millington, Tennessee, Lexington Park, Maryland and Charleston, South Carolina. John and his wife Patricia retired in West Virginia in 2005. John holds amateur radio license W8ES and is trustee of the "Dos Equis Radio Club," W4XX.
