Henry Whiting[1] was born about 1650 in Gloucester County, Virginia. He was the son of James Whiting.
Whiting was a physician, Justice of Gloucester, Major of Horse in the militia, 1680, served as Burgess for Gloucester County in 168o-82, 1684, was appointed to the Council, 1690, and served as Treasurer of Virginia, 1692-1693.
He is referred to in records as "Dr. Henry Whiting." On 22 September 1671 he obtained a judgment in the amount of £40 sterling on 22 September 1671 against the estate of Thomas Perry for having cured "said Perry's wife of a distemper."
Whiting married Apphia Hughs, "the relict of Mr. Richard Bushrod" before 21 October 1670 when he brought suit in the General Court in right of his wife. He married second Elizabeth Unknown, who was living in 1729.
