Biography

Entered by Michael Stack

Michael Edward Stack was born on May 17, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Mary Catherine Ardner Stack and Vincent Edward Stack. He is 3/8th Irish, 3/8th German, 1/8th French and 1/8th Scotch. As his father was involved in large construction projects for the Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation he moved often as a child. He lived in Toledo, Ohio; Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; Freeport, Texas; Lincoln, Maine and St. Petersburg, Florida. He attended St. Jude Catholic School and Bishop Barry High School (now St. Petersburg Catholic). When he was 17 years-old he saved four thirteen-year-old boys and a twenty-year-old woman from drowning in a swift current in the ocean near Sea Island, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he worked with his father constructing a large fertilizer plant near Wilmington, North Carolina. He worked at the U.S. Patent Office in Washington, DC. He then attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and every other semester worked as a cooperative education student for the U.S Food and Drug Administration in Washington, DC. Upon graduation with a bachelors in chemistry he became a research chemist for the FDA. His work was on mycotoxins (toxic mold metabolites in food). The work involved inventing methods of analysis for mycotoxins in food and isolation, identification, and structural elucidation of new mycotoxins. Some of the mycotoxins worked on were: aflatoxins, ochratoxins, alternaria toxins, fumonisins, xanthomegnin and trichothecenes. He attended American University in Washington at nights and earned a master’s degree in biochemistry. He authored 60 research publications with results of his work. At the end of his career he traveled to teach about mycotoxins in such places as New Orleans, Atlanta, Uruguay, Venezuela, Mexico, Thailand, Jamaica, and South Africa.

He married Ann Alwood Rich Stack in St. Stephens Church in Washington, DC and they moved to Arlington, Virginia for a time before moving to a small farm near Frederick, Maryland. They lived in a stone house built before 1845. They had Angus cows and a bull, ponies, pigs, geese, ducks, chickens, cats and a dog, Fritz. Eggs were sold to people at the FDA. Pigs were sold at the Frederick Livestock Auction. Vegetables were sold at the Frederick County Fair Grounds. He later moved to Springfield, Virginia where he married twice more.

Michael has two sons, a daughter, a granddaughter, two grandsons, two step-daughters, a step-son, two step-grandsons and two step-granddaughters. Michael is proud of all of them and everything that they have accomplished.

I do not know if you are in the Susannah Thresher project . I may be an old gringo but quite young in this fantastic WikiTree site. I just posed the question to the "project leaders":

I have information to contribute to the profile of Susannah (Thresher) Cooke. This is what I can add but I am not member of this project:

Her father: Robert Earl Thrasher Her mother: Isabell Elizabeth Thrasher

These are the sources I am using: Robert Earl Thrasher (1598-1657) - Find a Grave Memorial Susannah Thrasher (1625–1670) | Person | Family Tree | FamilySearch Geni - Susannah Cooke (Thrasher) (c.1625-c.1670) On her profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Thresher-16, her parents are "unknown". And her maiden name should be changed to "Thrasher"?

WikiTree profile: Susannah Cooke

Hi Michael ~ Thanks for tip on John Dominic Patrick O'Connell, the priest. He was baptized "John Joseph O'Connell" https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/O'Connell-2172 in his baptismal record but obviously added more names when he became a priest. I did some more research and add sources.

Hi Michael, we have a DNA match (I confirmed our match on GEDmatch). My great great grandmother was Anne Stack (born 1841) who was the daughter of Richard Stack and Mary Quain (Quane). Do know anything about them or how we might be connected? Thanks in advance. Maree.

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As I always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

Feel free to add Daniels children if you want to!
hi Michael,

my point was that you have Marie Lefebvre married to 2 different men with a child by both who came to the colony. No source has Marie Lefebvre marrying both men, it is a fairly common name, and is probably 2 different women, not one woman.

I'm one of several genealogists working on the PIÉDALU-AUBRY-DUMAS family, and trying to send out what I currently have to as many lines as I can. I am a descendant.

If you will send me an email address to which I can attach it, I will attach a current fully-indexed .pdf Ecopy. (769 pages long) No charge. I'm just trying to share my years of research as widely as I can.

Thank you for helping me clean up my tree. I inherited 17 binders & am attempting to organize everything. I probably have more mistakes & will not flinch if I have to 'prune' limbs. Again thanks.
