Biography

Maria (Mary) was the 2nd child and eldest daughter of Gregor & Maria Wenzlick. Mary’s first child Rosie Katherina, was illegitimate and raised by her grand-parents at Puhoi and on the farm at Kereta. Rosie’s marriage certificate lists her Father as Gregor (in fact her Grandfather)

Mary married Benjamin Sebastiano Caserotti on 4 March 1902 and they lived in Puhoi. Ben was naturalised on 4 November 1902 as a Boarding House Keeper of Auckland. He was born in Lombardy 1870, and identified on his marriage certificate as an Austrian. Ben died on 28 March 1909 and was buried at Waikaraka Cemetery in Auckland. Later that year Maria married Charles Campbell. Charles was born in 1869 in Glasgow, Scotland. Children of the marriage were:

• Jackeen Caserotti, born 1897; died 1906
• Lucy Caserotti, born 1899; died 1932
• Margaret Ursula (Rita) Caserotti, born 1902; died 1969

Charles died on 5 October 1922 at Auckland Hospital as the result of accident at Portland Cement Works in Warkworth. Maria died on 31 May 1953 at her home in Grey Lynn, Auckland. She and Charles were both buried at Waikaraka Cemetery, Auckland (Area 3 Block X1 Lot 126B)
