Hi Doug,

It’s that time of year again! On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members periodically to make sure everything is going well. This is our formal annual check-in with you.

Are you happy with your current project team choices? Would you like to join any other teams?

Also, we would really like to hear which team is currently your highest priority. If you are a member of more than one team, could you please rank them from highest priority to lowest? Thank you! If you don’t see yourself as being part of a team, please let us know.

We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

On behalf of all the Leaders, thank you again for all you do and we look forward to you continuing to be a part of our collaborative and fun Project!

Kind regards,

Maddy, England Project Leader

I've really enjoyed working on the England project over the past several years. I have learned so much, especially during the Orphan Trails.

I'm glad that I joined the Cornwall and Yorkshire teams. I have contributed in both those areas, and would like to do more. My ancestors come from there, but I have also done research and profiles about others beyond my family too. Cornwall is probably my highest preference because of my Warren and Paull paternal grandparents and relatives; however, I'm also interested in Yorkshire since my maternal Kay(e) ancestors originated there.

I spent so much time in various (interesting) rabbit holes during my research on Orphan Trail 1 and 2 that I felt I need some time away just to regroup and focus on some other things for a while. But I will probably resume my activities again fairly soon after this helpful diversion.

Hi Doug, thanks for that great feedback. I must admit to doing the same after completing the Orphan Trail - I spent the next 6 months updating my own family profiles before getting back to sourcing those orphans. Thank you for everything you can find time to do, working on your own family helps our tree too, and you are always welcome to join in with anything you fancy.

Best regards,

Maddy

Hi Doug,

I wrote to you recently as part of the England Project's six-monthly check-in with our project members. I haven't heard back from you. I hope you are well.

If you could please drop me a quick note to confirm whether you are still interested in the project and wish to remain an active member, that would be very helpful.

If we do not hear from you within the next 2 weeks, we will assume you are no longer active in the England Project and remove you from our list of project members. You would be most welcome to re-apply to join the project at a later time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Many thanks!

Hi Ian,

Yes, I’m doing great. The Orphan Trail 1 experience was one of the highlights of being a member of the England project this year. I created or improved so many more related profiles beside the three that I was officially working on: John Bayly (Bayly-31), Sarah (Maxfield) Hartley (Maxfield-32), and Dr John Parsons, MD (Parsons-8654). I currently have about 155 profiles on my Watchlist, most created and/or edited this year.

I have joined the Yorkshire and Cornwall teams, and I have been actively contributing to both of them. I recently enhanced at least 3 Kay profiles for Yorktown based on an Unsourced profile for Jane Kay (Kay-1887), and also currently working on profiles for John Cunliffe (Cunliffe-121) and related profiles from their Unconnected list.

I have also been actively improving the biography, facts, sources, and connections of my ancestors in Cornwall and Yorkshire. When Orphan Trail 2 becomes available, I look forward to taking part. I definitely want to continue with my involvement in the England project. Thanks for checking in with me.

Thanks Doug for your messages! Nice work! Regarding the Cornwall Team, Sarah has been away a bit in recent months. If you would like to update your research interests on the Cornwall Team page, you can let me know and I should be able to add them for you.

Thanks again for being part of the England Project!

No problem. I asked how to update the Cornwall Team page on Discord via the southwest-england channel. Elizabeth (Greet) Viney (Greet-49) was very helpful and immediately added my specific interests, surnames, and places for me.

Ian,

Sorry for not replying earlier. I am happy with my current membership in the England project, as well as the Yorkshire and Cornwall teams. After graduating from Orphan Trail 1, I received a welcome email from Dave Welburn (Welburn-134), a Yorkshire team leader; I have updated the Space:Yorkshire_Team page with information about my interests and current focus. I don't think I ever received any message from the Cornwall team, although I see that Sarah Grimaldi, Cornwall team leader, must have added my name to the list of members but I still need to add my specific interests on that page, and I have been working on many Cornwall profiles, especially my ancestors.

Hi Doug

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Thanks. I always try to remove USA from pre-1775 profiles, both in the data and in the bio. I never put it in my own work, but I find it many times in profiles I adopt. I think it is an automatic setting in some genealogy programs. Apparently I missed that one. Possibly, I removed it once and then merged another profile and it reappeared. Will try to double check more. Vic

I added you to John Beal's (Beal-9) Trusted List as requested. He is my 11th great-grandfather! So, nice to meet you cousin. :-)
Thank you for volunteering to help grow our worldwide family tree. The more ancestors you're able to add, the more likely cousins will find you and add to your family story.

To ask a question, please visit G2G forum.

Our help pages and search features can be accessed from the links on the upper right corner of most pages.

VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

For other tips, please check out my profile page.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree!

My primary family tree database is now located on another computer, since I initially created it with Family Tree Maker on Windows. However, I have been using a Mac for quite a while now, so it may take a few days to get the GEDCOM extracted and uploaded. In the meantime, I will provide some updates manually.
