Biography

David Walton, born 5.12.1796, died 1.25.1881 in Fairfax Co., Va., son of 3O4 Silas Walton & Phebe Parry of near Hatboro, Pa. and later of Burlington Co., N. J., [1][2][3]

He was born in Moreland Township, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, United States. [citation needed]

David Walton was married three times.

He married 1st, 4.12.1821 at Rancocas Mtg House; Ann Woolman, born 10.3.1796, died 10.17.1821, daughter of Granville Woolman & Hannah Stokes of Northampton Twp, [New Jersey].[1]

The Burlington Meeting has the record of his 1st marriage as cited above. The Quaker records record, on 2 July 1821, Ann W. wife of David Walton [relocated] to Chester, New Jersey [subsequently renamed Moorestown, New Jersey]. Asa Matlock's Ms on Old Gales Church says the 1st wife died in childbed. [1]

David married second on 1.14.1830 Sarah Matlock, born 8.16.1806, died 7.29.1842, daughter of Samuel Matlock & Sarah Shute, [1][2]

David married 3rd 11.13.1844 Jemima Ann (Borton) Ballinger, born 11.17.1808, died 4.12,1891, daughter of John Borton & Jemima Braddock and widow of Levi Ballinger. [This is from the Parry Gen. Ms.][1][2]

David and Sarah had the following children:

His wife, Sarah died on 29 July 1842 and is buried at Moorestown Friend's Burial Ground.[2]

David married Jemina Ann Ballinger, daughter of John Borton, on 13 November 1844.[2]

On 18 December 1846, David and Jemina Ann Walton, of Chester, New Jersey, sold a piece of property in Waterford, Camden, New Jersey to Nathan M. Lippincott, William C. Lippincott, Freedom W. Lippincott, Mathias L. Pimmerman (?) and William Wisham, directors of the Milford Glass Company.[6]

In 1850, David and Jemina, along with his children, were living in Chester, Burlington, New Jersey, United States.[5]

On 8 May 1856, David and Jemina received a certificate of removal to Alexandria, Virginia.[2]

In 1870, David and Jemina were living in Mount Vernon, Fairfax, Virginia, United States. Also living with them is Emma Corson, age 17.[7]

David Walton died on 25 January 1881 in Fairfax County, Virginia and is buried in Woodlawn, Virginia.[2][1][8]

"Friends Intelligencer says David died as above at Woodlawn, his widow Jemima as above in her 83rd year, elder of Alexandria Mtg. The Journal says he died of paralysis. The will of David of Fairfax Co., Va., drawn 2.23.1878, proved there Feb. 21, 1881, named wife Jemima Ann, children Ann W. Troth wife of Jacob M. Troth to have two brick houses #414 and 416 on the N side of Cumberland St. in Phila., Rebecca Ballinger wife of John Ballinger to have the brick house #418 next these, Walter to have the farm Walnut Hill in Fairfax Co. Dec. 24, 1855 David of Burlington Co., N. J., Miller, & wife Jemima Ann deeded three adjoining brick houses on the N side of Cumberland St. just B from Coral St. rec'd by him 1855. 24 Jan. 1896 Jacob W. Troth & wife Ann W., Rebecca Ballinger, Anna S. Walton widow, Edward Walton & Sarah B. Walton, all of Grand View, Va., deeded for $140O a brick house on the NE side of Cumberland St. 112' SE from the SE side of Coral St., 16' wide, rec'd 17 Sep. 1855 by David Walton who died as above, and 20 Apr. 1897 the same grantors deeded for $l5O0 another brick house 128' SE from Coral called #2071 E. Cumberland. Henry Janney, writing 11.26.1888 from Baltimore, Md. to Friends Intelligencer and Journal about some members of Alexandria Mtg in Va. says of all these worthy Friends who settled on the estate of George Washington before the late rebellion, only one, Jemima Ann Walton, is still living. she was 80 years of age on the 17th of 11th mo just passed. She is "all that remains of Chalkley Gillingham's colony in Virginia. She is the widow of David Walton who left a precious record." [1]
