Azel was born about 1785[1][2] probably in Randolph Co., North Carolina.[3] He was possibly the son of Sampson Vickery and Charity Robins, although this needs further research to be confirmed. He died in 1843 in Marion County, Illinois.[4]
Azel's first wife is not yet confirmed, she may have been named Mary but her surname has not been found. They would have been married in Tennessee about 1807 based on ages of known children; possibly in Greene County.
Azel married (2nd) to Ann (Sharp) Albert about 1840 probably in Marion Co., Illinois.[5] This marriage occurred after the births of Azel's children.
