" A wheelwright from Longparish, Hampshire, he would drink hard in spells, while in between these he was quite abstemious. A spendthrift. Moved to Isleworth. Died soon after his wife of whom he was extremely fond. Went to live with Louisa his eldest daughter after his wife died. What is known as 'a character' with very pronounced ideas. Made a fine set of tools for his only son who died as a boy. Only child. His mother was wealthy in her own right - believed to have had an estate near Longparish. H.V. is reputed to have lived at Shepton Mallet. Died of a growth on the liver." Account written in 1950s There is an IGI ref to a "William Vaughan, son of John and Elizabeth Vaughan, christened 26 NOV 1809 Evercreech, Somerset" Named as William Vaughan, Carpenter and still alive in November 1858 when his daughter Louisa married. There is an entry in the 1881 census for a "wheelwright journeyman aged 71, born Evercress, Somerset. Widowed, inmate, Brentford Union Workhouse, Isleworth."
