Biography

Elizabeth Andrews was born in about 1836 in Scotland.

Elizabeth Andrews married James Were Hutton on 30 Apr 1858 in Edinburgh, Midlothian.^[1]

Elizabeth and James had fourteen children:

The family remained in Edinburgh at least up until son Andrew was born in 1864, but they were living in England by 1866. Son James was born in Yorkshire that year, and then the family was in Manchester, Lancashire by the time twins John & Thomas were born in 1869.

In 1871 Elizabeth Hutton (age 34) lived in Manchester with her husband James (32) and six children: William F (10), Catherine E (8), Andrew M (6), James (4), John Meikle (2), and Thomas A (2), as well as Janet Meikle (68).^[2]

In 1881 Elizabeth Hutton (age 44) lived at Cheetham St in Cheetham, Lancashire with her husband James (42, Letterpress Printer) and eight children: William (20, Letterpress Printer), Catherine (18, Dressmaker), James (14, Printer), John (12, Scholar), Elizabeth (7, Scholar), Charles (5, Scholar), Annie (3, Scholar), and Flora (1).^[3]

In 1891 Elizabeth Hutton (age 56) lived at Derby Street in Manchester with her husband James (54, Letter Press Printer), three children: John (23, Picture Frame Maker), Elizabeth (18, Milliner), and Flora (12, Scholar), widowed son-in-law Alfred H Paget (25, Coal Merchant), and two grandsons: James A Paget (2) and George S Paget (0).^[4]

In 1901 Elizabeth Hutton (age 65) lived at Derby Street in Manchester with her husband James (63, Letterpress Printer), son John (32, Barman), and daughter Elizabeth (27, Milliner).^[5]

Elizabeth's husband passed away in 1908.

In 1911 Elizabeth Hutton (age 75) lived in Cheetham Hill, Manchester with her son John (42, Tea Mixer), daughter-in-law Mary (34), granddaughter Annie (2), and grandson George Swinson Paget (20, Cotton Warehouseman).^[6]

Elizabeth Hutton passed away in 1912, aged 76 years. Her death was registered in Prestwich, Lancashire in the first quarter of the year.^[7]
