Biography
Mary was a Friend (Quaker)
Mary, whose maiden name is not known, and John Workman lived in the southern part of Cork where they had a family.
[1]
John and Mary Workman both gave testimony against tithes together with other Quakers in 1680. Mary Workman wrote
I doe likewise bear my testimony and have borne the same with my husband against the hireling priests and false prophets their ways [of?] worship and doe hope I shall be so preserved while life remains[2]
Mary Workman appears to have died in or before the year 1723 because her will was proved in the diocesan court of Cork and Ross in that year.
[3].
Unfortunately, neither a copy nor an abstract of the will have been found.
Research Notes
No birth record located. Birthdate estimated based on birth of first child.
Evidence about the level of her (and her husband's) involvement in the Quakers is mostly not available because the Quaker minute book for Bandon has not been digitised by FindmyPast.
