Biography
Mary, wife of John Davidson Gillham was born 9 Sep 1797 according to her tombstone inscription. Nothing is known about her origins. Mary was likely born in South Carolina.
She and John D. married 22 December 1808. Together they had eight children, four of whom survived to adulthood and whose names are known.
Mary died 27 October 1851 in Jersey County, Illinois. [1]
Research Notes
According to one source, Mary was a Gillham cousin. However, every first and second cousin named Mary and/or Polly appears to have been married to other men.
Her birthplace may have been North Carolina or Kentucky.
