Biography
Amelia Ayres was born in 1863 in Burslem, Staffordshire, England to John Ayres and Sarah Ann (Crewe) Ayres. Her birth was registered in Wolstanton, Staffordshire in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Crewe.[1]
In 1871 Amelia Ayres (age 8, Scholar) lived in Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire with her father John (36, Coal Miner), mother Sarah A (35, Green Grocer), and three siblings: Ellen L (11, Scholar), James Hy (6, Scholar), and Frederick (2).[2]
In 1881 Amelia Ayres (age 18, Potters Transferer) lived at Upper John St in Stoke Upon Trent with her father John (46, Coal Miners Lamp Man), mother Sarah A (45), and four brothers: James H (15, Potters Clay Wedger), Frederick (12, Potters Jigger Turner), John (7, Scholar), and Thomas (2).[3]
Amelia Ayres (age 19, daughter of John Ayres) married Elihu Williams [aka Eli Williams] (age 21, son of Elijah Williams) on 4 Dec 1882 in Etruria, Staffordshire.[4] The marriage was registered in Stoke On Trent in the last quarter of the year.[5]
In 1891 Amelia Williams (age 27) lived in Hindley, Lancashire with her husband Eli (29, Coal Miner) and three children: Louisa E (5), Eujher G (2), and Frederick (1).[6]
In 1901 Amelia Williams (age 38) lived in Burslem with her husband Eli (39, Coal Miner Hewer) and four children: Louisa Ellen (15, Potters Gilder), Thomas (9), Sarah Elizth (5), and Eli (2), as well as her visiting mother Sarah Ann Ayres (65).[7]
In 1911 Amelia Williams (age 48, Household Duties) lived in Burslem with her husband Eli (49, Coal Miner Hewer) and six children: Thomas (19, Colliery Servant Jigger Underground), Amelia (18, Tailor's Machinist), Sarah Elizabeth (15, Tailoress), Eli (12, School), Norman (0), and Louisa Ellen Heath (25, Potters Gilder), as well as brother-in-law Thomas Williams (52, Can't Work / Formerly On Potters Placer).[8]
Amelia's husband Eli Williams passed away in 1918.
Amelia Williams passed away in 1946, aged 82 years. Her death was registered in Stoke On Trent in the first quarter of the year.[9]
