Joanna was born about 1595 according to her age given when she emigrated to America in 1634.
This family have been widely recorded in many on-line trees and Joanna's maiden name is often said to have been Drake. Equally the couple are said to have been born in Frome in Somerset.
The parish registers of St John the Baptist in Frome do not support either statement. There was a family by the name of Drake living there in the late 1500s, but there is no baptism of a Joanna Drake there. Equally there is no record of a marriage of Joanna Drake to Henry Kingman.
Henry Kingman (aged 40) emigrated with his Wife Joane 39; Daughter Joane 11; Son Edward 16; Son John 2; Son Thomas 7; Daughter Anne 9, leaving England 20 Mar 1633/34 bound for Weymouth, New England [1]
11 Apr 1659 Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts [2]
Her death has also been reported to have been on 2 Nov 1659 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts. This is a misunderstanding of date formats, the original source states Henry Kingman’s wife Joan decd 11: 2: 59, which in the date format being used at the time was the 11th April, not the 2nd November [3]
